We kicked off the summer with our Spring Premier Horse Show, but we still have lots of fun things happening with United Mountain Horse this year for you!
We are looking forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Bonanza Fun Horse Show and ACTHA Affiliated Competitive Trail Ride.
The date for the Bonanza is May 25 – 26, 2013. We will kick it all off Saturday at 9:00 am with the Rider’s Briefing for the trail ride competition. The ACTHA rides have become very popular and are a great way to spend time with your horse and fellow riders for some fun competition. Six judged obstacles on 6 miles of trail! There are two levels, plus a youth division. For more information and to sign up go to the ACTHA web site at www.actha.us . If you need more information on the ride or help in signing up contact Mary Lipginski at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 502-298-3626.
Saturday afternoon (25th) at 4:00 EDT we will start The Bonanza all breeds fun show. This show will have classes for all breeds to participate in for prizes and ribbons, and 5 championship classes with $100.00 going to the winner of each. Check out the show schedule because it is going to be fun for the entire family.
The Sunday ACTHA ride will feature all new obstacles and another competition for ribbons and fun prizes. This ride will feature a special prize for the 50th rider to sign up. We will also have a prize for the competitor who traveled the greatest distance and a prize for the person who brought the most riders with them.
Come join us on this Memorial Day weekend. Then after the two days of competitive riding and you still have not had enough… H T, Wilda and Jamie could be talked into taking a group to Wolf County for another ride in the beautiful mountains! Be sure to bring your camera because this will be one of the most scenic rides you will ever take. UMH has plenty of stalls, and camping available. What a great weekend for the entire family to enjoy!
You’re going to love this Memorial Day weekend so much… we are going to do it all again with our June Bug Show and ACTHA ride!!!
The June Bug Ride will start Saturday June 8th with our ACTHA ride and horse show that afternoon, and Sunday June 9th with another ACTHA ride. We will have enough competitive rides in this area that you will be able to accumulate lots of points with ACTHA and not have to drive very far. The show schedule will be much the same as the Bonanza, but please call for any changes.
Many of you have requested that we once again host a trail ride in Big South Fork, TN.
Robert and Lyngle Lawson of Stoner Ridge Farm have graciously volunteered to be your guide and to make plans for everyone to enjoy an organized trail ride weekend. They will be at the Wilderness Resort from June 13th thru the 16th.
Please go to www.BigSouthForkRentals.com to get rental information and make reservations at one of the many resort cabins that are available.
Wilderness Resort borders the Daniel Boone National Forest with easy access to many miles of trail from the resort property. Saturday evening there will be a nice meal, games and prizes. This is a weekend of trail riding, dinner with friends and lots of fun for only $50.00. If you need help with any of this or questions regarding the ride, email Lyngle at email@example.com .
For many years we have hosted the Kentucky State Championship show, this year it will be July 6, 2013. This show is open to all Mountain Horse breeds, and is a sanctioned Rocky Mountain show.
Also, mark your calendar again for The Summer Solstice, August 3-4, 2013. This is another ACTHA ride and fun show. Same schedule as the Bonanza and the June Bug Ride. This is another chance to rack up those points with ACTHA and enjoy the weekend with your family.
The World Show is set for August 29, 30, 31, 2013. Three days of Championship classes with the crowning of the 2013 Grand Champions on Saturday night. Come out and see the prestigious barn decorations, enjoy the great food and the camaraderie of other Mountain Horse friends. We will keep you posted on the agenda for that weekend and will be posting the class schedule soon.
Like I said, lots of fun things happening with UMH this year, and we invite you to become part of an association that is dedicated to the promotion of all the Mountain Horse breeds.
We wanted to get these dates out to you now so you can begin to make your plans. We can’t wait to get started! Check back for detailed information to be posted to the website and to the calendar section of the website for these events.

Most of you know Mary and we chose to spotlight her farm as a way of saying thanks for her commitment to the UMH mission and of course to the mountain horse.
If you’ve never visited Mary’s blog, please do so by clicking here. There’s plenty there with lots of great stories in the archives dating back to 2009! And as Mary shares on her website… “Come and visit them as you are always welcome.”
